Polyethylene terephthalate (PET)
Polyethylene terephthalate, also known as PET, is a thermoplastic polymer commonly used in the manufacturing of a wide range of products such as fabrics, displays, pens, and more. PET is also a material that is able to be recycled, which makes it an environmentally friendly choice for manufacturers.
PET is typically formed into various shapes via the melting of pellets or resin chips, and then moulding them with injection moulding, extrusion, blow moulding, or other thermoforming processes.
This thermoplastic is most commonly seen used for bottles due to its durability and transparent characteristics, as well as its resistance to chemicals and ability to hold carbonation.
Advantages of Polyethylene terephthalate
- Chemical and UV resistant
PET is a lightweight and durable material making it ideal for products that require portability, as well as being able to withstand stress and impact without easily deforming or breaking.
The transparency of this material is also ideal for bottles and containers, so that customers can see the product through the container. Another benefit to the transparent plastic as a bottle for soda is its resistance to carbonation.
PET is also to resistant to chemicals such as acids and bases and UV radiation. This make it the ideal plastic to use for products which will be exposed either to chemicals or to sunlight.
This plastic can also be recycled into rPET, reducing waste and to help support a more sustainable future.
Recycling of this thermoplastic is done by collecting, sorting, and recycling old PET bottles, or plastic materials, and then turning them into new products. These products include but are not limited to carpets, clothings, bags and packaging materials.

What is PETG and How is it Different from PET?
PETG is a glycol-modified PET thermoplastic. Although they are related, there are some key differences. The main difference between the two is that PETG contains a glycol-modifying agent that gives it improved properties. Those properties include a lower melting point and a higher impact resistance.
PETG is also more flexible and less brittle than PET, which makes it more ideal for objects that need greater stability. PETG is also more transparent and has better resistance to UV radiation. If a product needs higher levels of transparency or longer exposure to sunlight, than PETG is the better choice.
Both related thermoplastics are able to offer a large range of properties to products and manufacturing applications. The choice between the two different plastics include mainly the factors of rigidity vs. flexibility, impact resistance, transparency and UV resistance.
Which PETG Products are Offered at VKF RenzelWe have a wide range of products that are made of PETG. One of these products include s our L-Display A4 made of PETG. This product is a classic when it comes to presenting single sheet advertising.
This kind of single sheet advertising and information display includes uses like prices display, advertising stand, information sign, hygiene instructions, daily specials, etc. The PETG material used for this product is not only chemical and high-impact resistant, it is also fire class B1 retardant.
The Zebrina Sneeze Guard is also a product that is part of the "Zebrina" series, which are all made of PETG. This product series is not only made of a beautifully transparent material, where you can nicely see your products, it is also shipped flat. The products are easily assembled at home, and the flat shipping saves on shipping costs.
What is rPET and Why is it Important?rPET is the abbreviation for recycled polyethylene terephthalate. This recycled PET has been made and manufactured from recycled post-consumer waste, such as used beverage bottles and containers. rPET is important because it helps conserve natural resources and reduces our carbon footprint.
The use of rPET is also helpful in reducing energy consumption, because the energy needed to produce recycled polyethylene terephthalate is less than that of virgin PET. This helps reduce the environmental impact that manufacturing has on the world.
The manufacturing of rPET is also more cost effective to produce than virign PET, which helps reduce the overall costs of manufacturing. This version of recycled plastic is very versatile and can be used for many products including clothing, fibers for products such as flags and bags, pens, etc.
